I was up at Hoeft State Park wandering along some scenic trails and came upon an area which reminded me of my youth. I remember my future Mother and Father-in-law taking my future wife and I out blueberry picking in a meadow in the woods. This area was so similar that it brought those long forgotten memories back to me and helped me relive a

A view up the Rifle River. I was taken by the chaos of the greenery, the reflections of the sky on the water as well as the snags in the river. Carefully making my way up the dune, the morning hid the view from me until I crested the top of the dune and the da

"Closing Light"

This is a composite of two places along the Rifle River. The two views are portions near each other - one is looking upstream of a footbridge and kayak launch, In that view there were some tall pines grounded and holding strong and reminded me of a cathedral. On the left in the same location was a chaotic growth of shrubs, grasses, and reeds. The riv

A painting made from a wonderful visit at 40 mile Point Lighthouse. The wind was blowing briskly, cooling an otherwise warm day. It was a refreshing walk along a warm sandy beach with many shells and detritus washed up along the shoreline. From this view much of the lighthouse was in shadow cast from the trees making for an interesting a creatin
